I had posted about supernormal stimuli several weeks ago. And I think that social media is one of them. The joy of living a lifestyle albeit not earning it is. . . great. And in this post, I’m talking about one of the most famous social media on Earth: Instagram. Continue reading

An Extravagant Lifestyle

Anyone wants to be rich, including me. But I often think that the rich have extravagant lifestyle. Somehow, they pose themselves for their friends to boast their possessions, or just simply to make them jealous. Continue reading
Spiking New Ideas

Wired news site said that Elon Musk — the one that founded PayPal, Tesla and SpaceX — has a radical idea that he wants to merge human brains with AI — he even launched a company just for that purpose. Honestly, I disapprove this idea and hope that someone powerful will spike this idea from becoming a reality. Continue reading
Unraveled Society

A society that does not learn history is a society starting to unravel (inspired from here). Although there’s a quote quotes Napoleon saying, but I believe there’s still truth to history.
Supernormal Stimuli book said that human species were created to learn, to adapt to changes around them so they could survive. . . and create history. It’s the only way to keep the society from disintegrating and unraveling; we need to keep moving. Continue reading
Blindly Accepts

One of my junior high school teachers used to say, “Books are the windows to the knowledge available on this lovely Earth.” He wasn’t wrong; reading is a very effective method to increase our knowledge and gaining new insights.
But accepting the facts blindly read or heard makes you misinformed, and the consequences can be severe. You can end up hating the innocent people and defending the unjust ones. And in this post-truth era, you can’t really sure what’s right and wrong. Continue reading
A Champion of Others

Usually I do not go into politics. It’s full of treachery, deceit, and manipulation. But unfortunately, it’s the most significant thing that influences how our life will be for the next uncertain times.
I was educated by my high school teacher about the importance of college graduate. They were supposed to help its nation — in this case, Indonesia — rise and become a considerable competitor among other countries in context of technological and social advancements. Without become one — he said — we’re just wasting our time at college. Continue reading
A Fortune Well Spent (April Fool’s Day)
Fortune is often associated with a huge amount of money or wealth. When I was rather innocent, I had a dream to use my fortune to help people. Sounds cliché but what did I know? Most people would rather spend them on luxury items such as fast cars, beautiful mansions, and sophisticated technology.
But this is April Fool’s day I’m talking about. And some of the biggest companies in the world are spending their fortunes to prank people — I only know who make the pranks — in an intelligent way. I envy them; it turns out that you can spend your fortunes in a fancy way that can make people laugh and entertained. Or maybe get their intelligence insulted, who knows.
Symbiosis in Social Media
A process of trading mainly should be symbiotic, both to the sellers and buyers. It’s how things work: we buy things we want from sellers we trust to receive benefit we expect for as long as possible without having to buy newer things again. But things are a little more complicated when we’re talking about social media.
We use social media because we gain several benefits — perks, if you will — from using them. We can share our opinions, our current life, even our personal and private aspects of our lives in real-time across the world, surpassing any boundaries and distance without any charge or fees for the rest of our lives — well, almost all. Controversy over New Public Riding Policy

I want to keep this short and sweet, so I’ll just elaborate the new public riding controversy in Indonesia.
Some of our public ride drivers — we call it Angkot — held several protests towards our government demanding justice be delivered toward the so-called sharing economy companies, like Uber and Grab as depicted from the picture above.
I didn’t follow the news frequently, but from what I gathered, those protesters wanted those companies to have a system like they do — I’ll explain below.
And guess what, they got it. And more.
Surpass Your Instinct
In case if you don’t already recognize that book, it’s called Supernormal Stimuli by Deirdre Barrett. It talks about how modern world is not suited for our slowly-evolved instinct; she stated that human instinct is mainly not evolved fast enough for this rapid-pace and garish modern world nowadays.
Barrett said that our instinct is created for environment much like 10,000 years ago.
